Privacy Policy

Summary

Chase's Retreat is a private app for guests and family at our mountain home in Piney Creek, North Carolina. It works without an account, and it collects no personal information unless you allow notifications for stay messages (described below).

We don't use analytics, tracking or advertising, and we never sell or share your information.

Music and lights

Music and the Lights controls talk only to equipment on the property's own network, using a guest account built into the app. When you're away from the property, the optional remote music sign-in connects to the same server using details you type in; they're stored only on your device.

Stay messages (optional)

If you allow notifications when the app asks, it sends us:

• your first name, only if you choose to add it, so a message can be addressed to you;
• a notification token from Apple or Google that lets us send notifications to this app on your phone;
• your phone type (iPhone or Android) and the app version;
• the last time the app was opened on the property's Wi-Fi, so some messages (like check-out reminders) only go to people currently staying.

We use this only to send messages about your stay, before you arrive and while you're there, such as trip reminders, check-out reminders and news about the house. It's stored with Google Firebase and is deleted automatically 90 days after you last use the app. Notifications are delivered by Apple Push Notification service or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn stay messages off in the app (which deletes this information right away) or in your phone's notification settings at any time, and you can ask us to delete your information by emailing the address below.

Family Calendar

The Family Calendar is for our family only. Family members sign in with their own account on our home server; the sign-in is stored only on their device, and the calendar is read from our server. The app's demo mode makes no network requests.

House Manual and photos

The House Manual is downloaded from our server and contains no personal information. "Share Your Photos" opens a shared Google Photos album; anything you add there is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Children

The app isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from them.
